NYC

Têm em comum o Ian-Curtis sound alike, e duas músicas esplêndidas que imortalizam a cidade de Nova Iorque. Duas perspectivas diferentes das mesma cidade, duas vivências, duas projecções da interioridade numa cidade à qual se atribui um organicismo comovente. A cidade é um ser que vive, que está acordado, que nos apoia, e nos vê deambular sem destino pelas suas ruas. É um sítio sujo, lugar de perversão, mas pode ser também a solidão personificada que nos acolhe, quando a humanidade - viva de facto - não nos aquece.
Interpol, com NYC (Turn On the Bright Lights, 2002) apresentam o retrato da cidade frívola, a cidade de pecado, de perdição mas uma cidade humana, que não é necessariamnete o que fazem dela.
Elephant, com The Lunatic ( The Black Magic Show, 2006) por sua vez expõem a cidade que acompanha as aventuras dos que nela vivem.
Ambas lamentam o facto da cidade ser amortalhada pela noite que não só leva a luz como qualquer possibilidade de interacção com a mesma.

Duas canções para ler e ouvir com atenção, dois retratos vivos e anímicos de uma cidade que morre e renasce todos os dias - como tantas outras, sente (?) e faz sentir. Duas músicas o mesmo saudosismo.
